Operations

The Operations department consists of several sub departments that are responsible for the production of all News America's products.  The Operations departments work closely with our internal sales force to ensure all programs are executed properly. The departments are responsible for coordinating the printing of all products, to ensure the accuracy of each program, and to maintain the strict production schedule set up to deliver all of the products on time.

Analysis- This group manages and maintains the daily FSI sales flash to ensure the accurate reflection of sales and budget information. They work closely with FSI print vendors to review and maintain all rebates, credits and debits and is also responsible for all coupon security issues.

Cycle Planning- Cycle Planning’s goal is to facilitate seamless execution of all in-store programs. Utilizing information provided by Sales via insertion orders (IOs) and addendums, Cycle Planning inputs this information into Sales and Reservations in order to generate reports for various departments in Operations as well as vendors.

Distribution- The department coordinates weekly FSI shipping to all network newspapers and the cyclical in-store shipping from vendors to the nationwide Field organization.

Layouts- The Layouts department coordinates the placement of issue-specific sales information to 250-300 individual inserts. The department places similar forms together in the most cost-effective manner possibly while taking into account numerous client placement requests and guarantees. In addition, they supply issue paperwork and support information to printers on a weekly basis to facilitate the printing process.

Manufacturing- This department works on-site at FSI printing plants to ensure high-quality standards and manages FSI paper purchases and printer's paper inventory. This group sets all production schedules and determines the acceptance of special effect programs.

Pre-Press- This department provides technical support to the sales teams and their clients. They are responsible for receiving, reviewing and processing client ad files for in-store and FSI programs prior to print production. Upon receiving files, they verify their content to make sure they meet News America Marketing specifications and have been submitted properly. This verification confirms that the file supplied is the correct size, all supporting images are the correct resolution and all fonts are provided. Once the pre-flight is complete, Pre-Press will send the file to the vendors for further processing. Pre-Press works closely with various internal departments to ensure that client files are processed and produced correctly. Pre-Press also works with external vendors to meet client expecations.

Product Development- This department examines new product objectives and determines the technological, manufacturing and operational requirements. They work to determine the feasibility, cost and external resources for the development of in-store concepts and the detail and scope of installation issues for existing and future hardware needs.

Production- Production is the liaison between News America Marketing and all external vendors to ensure all schedules are met as well as ensuring News America Marketing's products are produced to their highest quality. They are responsible for all custom quoting, program execution and sample distribution.

Purchasing- Works to ensure the best prices and highest quality from in-store hardware vendors and fulfills Field requests for supplies.

The Operations department is located in the Wilton, CT office.
